Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the major infectious diseases and continues to be a significant public health concern. TB transmission is influenced not only by individual factors but also by residential environmental conditions, particularly the quality of ventilation, humidity, and lighting. Families of TB patients are at higher risk of exposure due to close and prolonged contact with patients; therefore, empowering families to create a healthy home environment is essential as part of TB prevention efforts. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and awareness of TB patients’ families regarding the optimization of healthy home environmental quality to support TB transmission prevention. The activity was conducted in the working area of Glugur Darat Primary Health Center, Medan Perjuangan District, Medan City, using an approach involving health education, observation of home environmental conditions, and family assistance for TB patients. Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test methods to measure participants’ knowledge improvement regarding the role of ventilation, humidity, and lighting in TB control. The results showed an increase in the average knowledge score from 78.67 before the education session to 96.58 after the intervention, representing an improvement of 17.91 points or 22.77%. This activity demonstrated that environmental health education and family assistance were effective in improving TB patients’ families’ understanding of the importance of implementing a healthy home environment. This program is expected to support family-based TB control efforts and contribute to sustainable improvement in community health quality.
