Abstract

Public transport drivers face occupational demands involving high levels of concentration and long working hours, which may be associated with work-related stress and fatigue and may potentially affect driving safety. Therefore, improving drivers’ knowledge regarding the prevention of work-related stress and fatigue is an important aspect of supporting their occupational health and safety. This Community Service Program aimed to improve the knowledge of public transport drivers in Deli Tua Village, Deli Serdang Regency, regarding work-related stress, occupational fatigue, and preventive measures. The activity was conducted on August 15, 2026, involving 25 public transport drivers. The program consisted of a preparation stage, an educational intervention through interactive lectures, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and case studies, followed by an evaluation using pre-tests, post-tests, and participant engagement observations. The evaluation results showed increased knowledge across all measured indicators: knowledge of work-related stress increased from 50% to 75%, knowledge of occupational fatigue increased from 48% to 70%, knowledge of stress prevention increased from 40% to 80%, and knowledge of fatigue prevention increased from 60% to 80%. The mean score across the four indicators increased from 49.50% to 76.25%, representing an increase of 26.75 percentage points. The greatest improvement was observed in the stress prevention indicator. The educational intervention was followed by increased participant knowledge across all measured aspects. However, the activity did not measure stress levels, fatigue levels, changes in driving behavior, or accident incidence; therefore, changes in these outcomes cannot be concluded. Further follow-up activities and support for adequate work-rest scheduling are recommended to strengthen the implementation of stress and fatigue prevention among public transport drivers.
