Supporting the implementation of high-quality electronic medical records requires a high-quality work environment and a competent workforce. This Community Service (PKM) activity aimed to enhance the understanding and skills of medical record staff regarding the roles of the work environment and professional competence in supporting the quality of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) at Sembiring Deli Tua General Hospital. EMRs are integral to healthcare delivery, as they facilitate efficient workflows, accurate documentation, and improved health information quality. Optimizing EMR implementation depends not only on technological and information system readiness but also on a conducive work environment and the staff's ability to properly operate and manage medical records. Data collection for this activity involved pre-tests, post-tests, and observations of participants from the medical records unit. The results demonstrated an improvement in participant understanding following sessions on the work environment and medical record staff competence in the context of EMR quality. This improvement was evidenced by the comparison of pre-test and post-test scores, as well as active participation during discussions, Q&A sessions, and simulations. The activity also raised awareness regarding the importance of fostering a supportive work environment and continuously developing professional competence. Staff members who possess adequate competence and work in a conducive environment are expected to produce more accurate, complete, and high-quality medical record documentation, thereby supporting the enhancement of health information service quality at the hospital.
