Abstract

The skill of composing health reports in English is a crucial ability for students in health sciences, aiding their academic and career pursuits in a globalized world. Nonetheless, numerous students encounter challenges with medical vocabulary, structuring their reports effectively, and utilizing correct grammar. This community service initiative aimed to enhance students’ proficiency in writing health reports in English through various training and mentoring activities. The approach included lectures, interactive discussions, practical report writing based on real-world scenarios, and personalized mentoring sessions. Assessment was carried out using pretests, post-tests, and evaluations of the written reports submitted by participants. The findings indicated a notable advancement in the participants’ understanding and writing capabilities. The average score rose from 65 in the pretest to 85 in the post-test. Additionally, participants displayed improved command of medical terminology, better report structuring, and greater grammatical precision. The training and mentoring initiative was shown to be effective in boosting students’ skills in producing health reports in English and enhancing their confidence in utilizing English for both academic and professional contexts. These results align with earlier research suggesting that well-organized training and mentoring programs can greatly enhance the abilities of participants.
