Leny Suarni, Muhammad Nur Maghribi Sembiring, Ichfad Ananda, Nurhalila Nurhalila ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ejournal.delihusada.ac.id/index.php/JPKM/article/view/2755 Fri, 07 Nov 2025 07:24:11 SE Asia Standard Time SELF-CARE MANAGEMENT AND QUALITY OF LIFE IN HEMODIALYSIS PATIENTS https://ejournal.delihusada.ac.id/index.php/JPKM/article/view/2747
Hemodialysis is a procedure that removes solutes and excess fluids from the blood. Modifying one's eating habits and level of physical activity are two key components of a hypertension management plan. As a serious and widely-present health problem, hypertension is frequently encountered in primary healthcare institutions in Indonesia. Despite the availability of effective medications at healthcare facilities, the public's lack of information about hypertension management and control contributes to the high frequency of the disease in Indonesia. Both pharmaceutical and non-pharmacological methods exist for the management of hypertension. Medication is the cornerstone of pharmacological treatment, which aims to reduce and stabilise blood pressure. Medication must be taken consistently in order for this treatment to work. The use of medicinal drugs is not part of non-pharmacological therapy. Complementary therapy is one form of treatment that does not involve pharmaceuticals. The primary objective of this research is to determine whether hypertension individuals' blood pressure can be reduced by adjusting their intake of Himalayan salt. This study employed a one-group pretest-posttest design, which is typical of quasi-experimental research. The paired sample test was used to analyse the data. The complete sampling method was used to get 21 samples. The data was collected by use of observation sheets. The bivariate study conducted at the Deli Tua Public Health Centre in 2024 found a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05, suggesting that changing the consumption of Himalayan salt had an influence on reducing blood pressure in hypertensive individuals.

Keywords: Hypertension, Himalayan Salt Consumption, Blood Pressure.
Rini Debora Silalahi ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ejournal.delihusada.ac.id/index.php/JPKM/article/view/2760 Fri, 07 Nov 2025 07:24:48 SE Asia Standard Time HUBUNGAN SARAPAN PAGI DAN MAKANAN SELINGAN DENGAN STATUS GIZI PADA ANAK SEKOLAH DASAR DI SD SINGOSARI DELI TUA https://ejournal.delihusada.ac.id/index.php/JPKM/article/view/2735
Nutritional status among elementary school children is influenced by breakfast habits and snack consumption. This study aimed to determine the relationship between breakfast habits and snack consumption with the nutritional status of elementary school children at Singosari Elementary School, Deli Tua. A cross-sectional design was used with 64 respondents selected through proportional random sampling. Data were collected using a 24-hour food recall questionnaire and a Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ), while anthropometric measurements were conducted to determine nutritional status based on the BMI-for-age indicator according to WHO standards. The results showed that most children had good breakfast habits (≥4 times per week) and were predominantly categorized as overweight. The Chi-Square test indicated a significant relationship between breakfast habits and nutritional status (p = 0.004) and between snack consumption and nutritional status (p = 0.003). It can be concluded that breakfast and snack consumption are associated with the nutritional status of elementary school children, where the quality of breakfast and the types of snacks consumed play an important role in preventing overweight among school-aged children.
Dewi Tiansa Barus, Rentawati Purba, Daniel Suranta Ginting, Dwi Putri Aritonang ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ejournal.delihusada.ac.id/index.php/JPKM/article/view/2735 Fri, 07 Nov 2025 07:25:00 SE Asia Standard Time The Effectiveness of Foot Massage on Fatigue in Breast Cancer Patients Undergoing Chemotherapy https://ejournal.delihusada.ac.id/index.php/JPKM/article/view/2714
Breast cancer is a significant global health issue with a rising incidence in Indonesia. Patients undergoing chemotherapy often experience fatigue as a common side effect of treatment. This study aimed to examine the effect of foot massage on reducing fatigue among breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy at RSU Sembiring Deli Tua. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest framework. Eighteen breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy participated in this study. Fatigue levels were measured before and after the foot massage intervention using the Fatigue Assessment Scale (FAS). The results demonstrated a reduction in fatigue levels following the foot massage intervention. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test revealed a significant difference in fatigue levels before and after the intervention (p = 0.002; p<0.05). The majority of participants experienced a decrease in fatigue from moderate to mild, while six participants showed no significant change. These findings are consistent with previous studies indicating the effectiveness of foot massage in alleviating fatigue among breast cancer patients. In conclusion, foot massage can be considered an effective complementary therapy for reducing fatigue in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy in Indonesia.
Mersi Ekaputri, Fahrizal Alwi, Mery Silvia Harahap, Maria Gracesella Elsy Laiya, Rini Debora Silalahi ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ejournal.delihusada.ac.id/index.php/JPKM/article/view/2714 Fri, 07 Nov 2025 07:25:14 SE Asia Standard Time
